Perfect White Wedding Dress

In fact, in the grand scheme of things, the tradition is not even that old. The white wedding dress today is deep rooted tradition, and for many is worn to maintain tradition and virtue mean. Millions-in fact billions-of women around the world to start thinking about the perfect white wedding dress before they even have found the perfect partner.

Great Britain is a place that is full of traditions and legends, so it's no wonder that the tradition of the white wedding dress was started by the English monarchy. It was the marriage of Queen Victoria that the importance and popularity of the white wedding dresses brought forth as we know it today.
Queen Victoria married Albert of Saxony in 1840, and wore what would then be like a flamboyant white dress. Of course, had this not start the tradition right away, but many women saw this as a statement of class and style, and copied the Queen by also getting married in white.

The white wedding dress in those days had nothing to do with being virtuous-it was all about wealth. Getting married in a white, extravagant dress was a sign that you could afford to buy a dress that you would never be able to wear again because of his style and color (whites were not easy to clean in those days as they are today!).

Of course, women are still married in various colors and styles of clothing-it was only the vain and the rich who called for white to follow in the footsteps of the wealthy Monarch. However, during the Edwardian times, the white wedding dress times more soared to new heights of popularity, such as Coco Chanel unveiled its new knee-length white wedding dress, complete with extravagant train.
Even so, with the depression that followed the first world war and the approach of World War II, many women still have to deal with making some type of dress they could afford, and this went on for decades. Some women would be married in a short white informal wedding dress, which can then be painted and used as everyday clothing. Again, it was only the fabulously wealthy who really could afford to splurge on an extensive dress.

However, from the 1950s onwards, as the world watched Hollywood stars, royalty and members of the high society to marry in gorgeous white dresses, the tradition of the White was signed and sealed.
